COVID-19 Vaccines: Science, Ethics, and Policy

On February 5th 2021, the UTD Office of Research and Innovation and the Center for Values hosted a discussion panel on COVID-19 Vaccines. The panelists answered questions from our community about the science, safety, approval processes, ethics, policy issues, and personal decision-making on the COVID-19 vaccines currently distributed around the country and the world. The discussion and Q&A were moderated by Dr. Matthew J. Brown.

Our panel included:

  • Dr. Mark Navin, Professor and Chair of Philosophy, Oakland University
  • Dr. Seema Yasmin, Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine – Primary Care and Population Health at Stanford University
  • Dr. Sean Valles, Director and Associate Professor, Center for Ethics and Humanities in the Life Sciences, Michigan State University
  • Dr. Trish Perl, Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases, UT Southwestern Medical Center
